OPEC production rose significantly in July, as Gulf states resumed pumping supplies that had been affected by the war with Iran and the unrest in the Strait of Hormuz, with Iraq recording the largest increase among member states, according to a Reuters survey.
According to the survey, OPEC production, excluding the UAE, rose by about 1.17 million barrels per day during July, reaching 19.85 million barrels per day, continuing the recovery from the sharp decline recorded by the organization during May.
Iraq recorded the largest increase in supplies among OPEC members during the month, followed by Kuwait, while Iran raised its oil exports despite the return of the US embargo on its ports in mid-July, which slowed shipments again.
In contrast, Saudi supplies declined slightly, while Libya increased its production, as its shipments were not affected by the US-Israeli war with Iran.
The Reuters survey is based on oil flow data from the LSEG Group and companies that track shipments, including Kpler, as well as information from sources in oil companies, OPEC, and industry consultants.
The increase in the organization’s production comes despite seven members of the OPEC+ alliance having agreed to increase production during July, but security developments in the Middle East and navigation difficulties through the Strait of Hormuz limited the ability of some producers to implement the planned increases.
