An informed source confirmed on Saturday that a Greek oil tanker has continued loading crude oil from Basra ports since Friday, despite the Iranian Revolutionary Guard intercepting a ship loaded with Iraqi oil in the Strait of Hormuz.
The source told Shafaq News Agency that the tanker, which flies the Maltese flag, is continuing to load at a rate of 45,000 barrels of oil per hour, expecting the loading process to be completed by tomorrow, Sunday, bringing the total cargo to two million barrels.
Earlier today, the Revolutionary Guard forced two Indian ships, one of them a giant carrying two million barrels of Iraqi oil, to change course and return to their ports outside the Strait of Hormuz, as the Iranian side closed it again to maritime traffic.
In this regard, and regarding the fate of that tanker which was said to have been subjected to warning shots, a source in the Basra Oil Company told Shafaq News Agency that the tanker had docked at the waiting station in international waters, and not in Iraqi territorial waters, after the strait was closed during the military conflict that lasted for forty days in the region.
He confirmed that it tried to continue on its course, but returned today to Iraqi ports after Tehran closed Hormuz, stressing that the tanker did not load Iraqi oil recently, and is not the Greek one that is being loaded at the moment.
