Reuters reported on Thursday that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had issued a directive not to send uranium out of Iran.
The agency, citing two Iranian sources, said that “Iran’s Supreme Leader has issued a directive not to send semi-weapon-grade uranium abroad.”
This indicates that Tehran is hardening its stance on one of the key US demands in the peace talks .
Iran said on Thursday it was studying the latest proposal from the United States to end the war, after US President Donald Trump indicated Washington was prepared to wait a few days “to get the right responses” from Tehran, but vowed to launch new attacks unless it agreed to a deal .
The official Iranian news website “Noor News” quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei as saying, “We have received the views of the United States and are studying them .”
He added that Pakistan, which hosted peace talks last month and is playing a mediating role in the exchange of messages between the two sides, continues to mediate between Tehran and Washington, with several rounds of communication taking place .
The Pakistani Interior Minister visited Tehran on Wednesday and held meetings with Iranian officials.
