Iran officially announces its refusal to hand over uranium or halt enrichment.
10-8-2026
The head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency, Mohammad Eslami, announced on Thursday (October 8, 2026) that the Iranian government refuses to hand over the uranium in its possession or to stop enrichment.
Islami said that Iran “will not give up its right to enrich uranium and will not hand over the enriched uranium in its possession despite American pressure,” stressing that “uranium enrichment is a separate issue from the nuclear talks.”
It is noted that talks between the Iranian and American sides are still ongoing, as the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that it is examining the American response to its offer to stop the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days, which it presented to Washington during the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York last month.
