India cancels loading of oil shipments from Iraq

Reuters reported on Tuesday that the Indian Oil Corporation had cancelled loadings of oil shipments from Iraq’s Basra terminal due to security tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the ongoing war between the United States and Iran.
Reuters added, citing three informed sources, that another Indian state-owned refiner, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, had also cancelled plans to load an Iraqi oil shipment onto the Indian-flagged tanker Desh Gaurav.
The Indian state corporation was preparing to load two million barrels of Iraqi oil onto the giant crude oil tanker “Leela Jamnagar” on about July 23, according to Reuters.
It is noted that India has advised ship owners and operators, as well as recruitment companies, not to send Indian sailors on board ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz, following the resumption of hostilities in the region.
