MP Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani called on Saturday to restore the dollar’s exchange rate to what it was previously.
Al-Sudani said in a statement received by “Tigris”, “We renew our demand to review the exchange rate of the dollar because the negative impact of its rise has become the sleeper of the poor and those with limited income, especially after the rise in the prices of some commodities to 100%, and this in itself represents a declaration of war against the poor and low-income people. The government has been unable to take any action to alleviate the burdens of these groups in return for its step, which has become unjustified in light of the rise in global oil prices. ”
He added, “The decision to reduce the dinar caused a halt to small and medium businesses due to the high prices.”
He continued, “I participated with the rest of the colleagues in adopting the position of not voting on the paragraph on raising the price of the dollar to 1450 dinars, because the real victim is the poor citizen.”
