The US Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad, Joshua Harris, sent a final farewell message to the Iraqis on Tuesday, on the occasion of the end of his mission, in which he affirmed his country’s continued support for Iraq’s sovereignty and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in a way that guarantees the common interests of the two peoples.
Harris said in a video message broadcast by the US Embassy: “It has been an honor to represent the United States in Iraq to advance American interests and solidify the shared priority of establishing a strong and mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.”
He explained that “the relationship between Washington and Baghdad revolves around preserving Iraqi sovereignty, defeating terrorism, enhancing security, and promoting economic and trade ties,” noting the work on developing important partnerships with the private sector, based on global technologies and the American spirit of innovation, at a time when Iraq seeks to build a sovereign, stable, and prosperous future.
