IMF warns of sliding euro zone recessionFollow-up – and babysit – warned the head of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde of the possibility of sliding back into the euro zone into recession if they are not adopting sound economic policies.
Lagarde said, “We do not say that the region is heading toward recession, but say there is a serious risk of the occurrence if it did not do anything.”

Lagarde’s comments came at a news conference in Washington at the beginning of the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank.

According to Lagarde, the International Monetary Fund estimated the incidence of long-term contraction in the Euro zone at 35 to 40 percent, noting that this figure is “not serious.”
