MP Rafiq Hashim confirmed on Sunday that the lack of planning and a comprehensive vision has hindered the utilization of the Grand Faw Port projects and resulted in the squandering of enormous sums of money. He stressed that the Parliament will take a firm oversight stance on this matter to stop the waste of public funds.
Hashim told the Information Agency, “The relevant authorities had announced the completion of significant portions of the Grand Faw Port’s infrastructure projects, and some of these projects were supposed to be operational by the specified deadlines.” He explained that “poor planning and the absence of a comprehensive vision have prevented the realization of this vital project.”
He added that “the continuation of this delay has led to the depletion of substantial funds allocated from previous budgets without achieving the desired economic returns,” noting that “what is happening represents a clear waste of public funds and cannot be tolerated.”
Al-Salehi stressed that “protecting public funds is a national and constitutional responsibility that cannot be compromised under any circumstances,” affirming that “the House of Representatives, in coordination with the relevant oversight and executive bodies, will take a clear stance and conduct a thorough investigation to identify the shortcomings and hold those responsible for the mismanagement of this strategic project accountable.”
