Government spokesman Haider Al-Aboudi announced today that Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi will pay an official visit to the United States of America during the month of July. Al-Aboudi said in a televised statement followed by Al-Furat News: “There are economic necessities to activate the strategic agreement with the United States,” stressing that “Iraq is not part of regional conflicts and adopts a policy of not allowing its territory to be used to attack any neighboring country.”
He added, “The Iraqi state has not resorted to printing currency or external borrowing, and the proposed solutions to confront the economic crisis are internal between the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank,” explaining that “the Central Bank is responsible for managing monetary policy, the exchange rate, and protecting the value of the dinar,” noting that “economic reform requires painful solutions.”
Al-Aboudi explained that “the Development Fund focuses on supporting development sectors, including education, health, industry and agriculture,” indicating that “the fund is an investment fund and contributions to it will generate profits and be exempt from taxes.”
On the political front, Al-Aboudi stressed that “Ali Al-Zaidi’s government adheres to a firm principle of not allowing Iraqi territory to be a launching pad for any aggression against any neighboring country,” noting that “Iraq supports the stability of the region through diplomacy.”
He noted that “the government is committed to the salaries of employees in the Kurdistan Region,” revealing that “the preparation of the program budget is being done in coordination with the World Bank, and a delegation from the bank will arrive in Iraq next week.”
