Iraqi government spokesman Haider al-Aboudi confirmed on Monday that the Prime Minister rejected a proposal to keep some international coalition forces beyond September 30. He also indicated that the Cabinet will vote on the 2027 budget next September. Al-Aboudi stated during a press conference that “the 2027 budget will be different from its predecessors, and will be based on programs and performance, and will be based on how funds are spent,” explaining that “the Cabinet will vote on the budget next September, and it will be in line with Iraq’s economic identity.”
He added, “The government is studying the issue of regularizing contracts and daily wage workers and determining the financial costs.”
Regarding the land file, he indicated that “the Cabinet will take measures tomorrow, Tuesday, to release the one million plots of land, which will include all citizens,” explaining that “the file of violations is under consideration by the Prime Minister’s office and contains many details.”
He also affirmed that “the government is proceeding with completing the procedures and commitments in restricting weapons, regulating their use, and unifying the decision,” noting that “the state is exercising its legal authority to manage the affairs of society.”
He also explained that “the time frame for the dialogues with the factions is proceeding in a regular manner, and the state’s decisions are based on national interests,” stressing that “the dialogues are positive, and the file will be concluded before September 30, and this represents a transitional phase based on cooperation and common interests.”
He also noted that “the Prime Minister rejected a proposal to keep some international coalition forces beyond September 30,” explaining that “the government is closely monitoring regional developments, and Iraq will not be part of the conflict.”
Regarding the Prime Minister’s visit, he stated that “the Prime Minister will conduct a European tour to visit Paris and Berlin during the first half of September, in response to an official invitation,” indicating that “the security file will be present during the visit.”
Regarding the fight against corruption, he pointed out that “the government is continuing its campaign against corruption and pursuing the accused to dry up the sources of corruption,” noting that “judicial orders represent an independent decision, and are one of the pillars of the state, and their results are clear in the fight against corruption.” He continued, “The government announces that what remains of the indicators of combating corruption has not been achieved for many years,” pointing out that “the value of the recovered funds indicates financial data that we have not heard of during the previous years.”
On the economic front, Al-Aboudi said: “The government has set its vision for diversifying revenue sources and proceeding to secure the governing requirements,” indicating that “Iraqi exports are proceeding regularly and reach more than two million barrels daily.”
Regarding the issue of generators, he stated that “the Prime Minister authorized the Ministry of Oil to take measures to assess the needs of generator owners,” indicating that “the decision was made to grant generator owners 35 liters per kilowatt, at a price of 400 dinars per liter.”
