On Saturday, the Anbar branch of the Oil Products Distribution Company announced the adoption of an odd-even distribution system for vehicles in Anbar province.

The company stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that the decision also includes preventing vehicles from parking overnight or being present in queues in front of fuel stations during nighttime hours.

She added that the decision comes within the requirements for organizing the process of supplying gasoline in the governorate, noting that, based on the directive of the Governor of Anbar, the Anbar Police Command and the Anbar Traffic Directorate will support the administrations of the distribution stations, and take the necessary measures to ensure the implementation of the decision and to organize the smooth flow of supply in accordance with the approved regulations.

The capital Baghdad and a number of Iraqi provinces have been experiencing a gasoline supply crisis for weeks, following a temporary improvement in the markets last month, amid continued fuel shortages affecting several areas of the country.

Earlier this month, Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed al-Abadi confirmed that work was underway to address the shortage of gasoline, and indicated that shipments of gasoline would soon arrive in Iraq.
