On Sunday, Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, approved the schedule of promotions for military officers, stressing the commitment to restricting weapons to the state and combating corruption, during a visit he made to the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Baghdad.
His media office said in a statement, received by Shafaq News Agency, that Al-Zaidi, upon his arrival at the ministry, chaired a meeting that included a number of military leaders and senior officers, during which he was briefed on the Ministry of Defense’s plans and the security situation in the military units.
During the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces approved the officers’ promotion schedule, stressing the government’s commitment to ensuring the entitlements of army personnel, and appreciating the efforts of officers and personnel in performing their duties.
Al-Zaydi stressed that the government is paying attention to developing the Iraqi army and enhancing its capabilities to be a professional army capable of protecting Iraq and its people, stressing the provision of the requirements of the military institution to support its readiness.
He also stressed that no weapons should be allowed to remain outside the framework of the state and the law, emphasizing the continuation of the fight against corruption and drying up its sources, and building a state where law, justice, security and stability prevail.
