Fridays decisive turning point... Will the coordination framework succeed in forming the governmentThe Coordination Framework finds itself today facing its most difficult political test since its formation, as all eyes turn to the “Decisive Friday,” designated as a turning point to end the political deadlock and pass the stalled constitutional entitlements.
This test is not limited to the ability of the forces within it to overcome their divisions and unify their visions, but extends to being a true measure of the cohesion of the largest bloc in the face of internal and external pressures that are attempting to disrupt the situation at the last minute.
As the deadline approaches, activity intensifies in the corridors of power, amidst popular and political anticipation of what the coming hours will bring, and whether the framework will succeed in transforming Friday into a gateway to stability, or whether the complexities and tense stances will impose alternative scenarios that could return the scene to square one, thus putting the credibility of political promises to the test before a public awaiting the resolution of issues directly linked to the fate of the next phase.
For his part, MP Miqdad al-Khafaji, from the Rights Bloc, confirmed that involving MPs from the Coordination Framework in the process of selecting the largest bloc’s candidate for prime minister is one of the main options on the table at the meeting of the Framework’s leaders next Friday.
Al-Khafaji told the Al-Maalouma news agency, “There is a widespread desire among MPs from the Shiite component outside the Coordination Framework to participate in the voting process, considering that the position represents the component’s share and parliamentary acceptance within it is essential.”
He added, “Disagreements within the Coordination Framework still exist, but the approaching end of the constitutional deadline is a significant pressure factor,” suggesting that “the matter will be resolved at Friday’s meeting by adopting the best mechanism that aligns with the aspirations of the majority of the forces under the Framework’s umbrella.”
In a related context, former MP Wael Abdul Latif confirmed that the political establishment is awaiting the final and decisive decision that will be issued by the Coordination Framework’s leaders during their meeting scheduled for next Friday.
Abdul Latif told Al-Maalomah that “this meeting will announce the official position regarding these leaks,” while revealing “leaks indicating an agreement to grant the position of Vice President to the head of the State of Law Coalition and the head of the Euphrates Movement, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.”
He pointed out that “the matter will be resolved at Friday’s meeting by adopting the best mechanism that aligns with the aspirations of the majority of the forces within the framework.”
