Former MP Rasoul Radhi, from the State of Law Coalition, confirmed on Thursday that there is a clear targeting of the Maliki coalition to obstruct the passage of its candidates for the ministerial cabinet, noting that there is a breakthrough in the crisis soon after the Eid holiday. Radhi told Al-Maalomah, “There is a clear targeting of the State of Law Coalition by some political parties and blocs inside and outside the Shia political establishment, in agreement with the Speaker of Parliament.”
He added, “The plan devised against the aforementioned coalition aims to obstruct the approval of the ministerial portfolios allocated to the State of Law Coalition. However, the coming days will witness a resolution to the crisis, especially since the entitlements remain and will not go to other parties.”
He explained that “the State of Law Coalition cannot be excluded from the political process or marginalized, especially since the head of the coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, represents the architect of the political process, and most political parties are inclined towards the State of Law Coalition. Furthermore, many parties have withdrawn from the former Prime Minister’s bloc and joined the new, stronger bloc, which confirms that al-Maliki is influential on the political scene.”
