Saman Ismail, the director of the Darbandikhan Dam administration, announced on Wednesday that the strategic dam, which is one of the largest dams in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, is full, following the wave of heavy rains witnessed this season.
Ismail said in a press conference, which was followed by Shafaq News Agency, that the dam’s storage basin had reached its maximum capacity as a result of the large water inflows, stressing that the dam’s situation is safe and stable.
The dam’s director denied what some media outlets and social media platforms had reported about the water getting out of control or flowing irregularly from the dam’s gates, calling on citizens and the media to rely solely on official information issued by the dam’s administration to avoid causing alarm.
