Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani and Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani congratulated Ali Faleh al-Zaidi on Thursday evening on gaining the confidence of the Iraqi Parliament and assuming the position of Federal Prime Minister, expressing their hope that the new government formation will contribute to the emergence of a new era that will raise the level of relations between Erbil and Baghdad.

Barzani’s office stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that he congratulated Ali Faleh al-Zaidi in a telephone call on the occasion of his gaining the confidence of the Iraqi Parliament and assuming the position of Prime Minister of Federal Iraq, and wished him success and good fortune.

In a telephone call, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, congratulated the Prime Minister of the Federal Government, Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, expressing his wishes for his success on the occasion of his gaining the confidence of the House of Representatives.

Masrour Barzani expressed his hopes that the federal government formation would contribute to establishing the foundations of peace and stability in Iraq, and pave the way for the emergence of a new era that would raise the level of relations between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.

Earlier today, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, congratulated al-Zaidi on his government gaining the confidence of Parliament, wishing them “all the best and success in carrying out their duties and responsibilities, in a way that serves all Iraqis of all backgrounds and fulfills their aspirations for more security, stability, progress and prosperity.”

On Thursday afternoon, the Iraqi parliament voted to grant confidence to the government of al-Zidi and its ministerial program, approving 14 ministers, while postponing the vote on 9 other ministries until after the Eid al-Adha holiday, according to a parliamentary source who spoke to Shafaq News Agency.
