The Iraqi Ministry of Justice announced on Tuesday that it had dismissed a lawsuit filed by the US Supreme Court against companies affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, saving the country from paying $53 million.
The ministry confirmed, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that a final and binding ruling was issued by the US Federal Supreme Court dismissing the lawsuit filed by a Jordanian company against a number of companies affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, which included financial claims amounting to $53 million.
She explained that the judicial decision is a final ruling, which contributed to sparing the Iraqi government from paying the amount demanded, in a legal achievement that reflects the success of the efforts made to defend the interests of the state and protect public funds.
The Ministry’s legal department indicated that this ruling confirms the soundness of Iraq’s legal position and the efficiency of the legal follow-up that resulted in resolving the case in favor of the Iraqi state, thus preserving its rights and protecting its financial resources.
