On Sunday, Mohammed al-Baldawi, spokesman for the Sadiqun parliamentary bloc – the political wing of Asaib Ahl al-Haq – confirmed that Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s visit to Europe aims to attract investment companies and open new avenues for the Iraqi economy.

Al-Baldawi told Shafaq News Agency that the visit “will be effective and positive for Iraq,” noting that it will focus on important agreements and projects in the areas of the armament system, energy and oil, in addition to projects and investments in the industry and trade sectors.

He added that “Iraq is open to the countries of the world and diversifies its relations,” indicating that the country now has an opportunity to return to its normal state and to be an important axis in drawing the political, security and economic map of the region.

Al-Baldawi pointed out that Iraq, after the end of the war and the completion of the Faw port and the development road, will be an active and important economic hub in the region, and will contribute to linking the world economy between East and West.

The official spokesman for the Iraqi government, Haider al-Aboudi, confirmed on Sunday that a government delegation headed by Ali al-Zaidi had left the capital, Baghdad, on an official visit that includes the French Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany.

According to Al-Aboudi, Al-Zaidi will begin this European tour in Paris, where he will hold joint talks with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the prospects for bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them to advanced levels.

The visit will witness the signing of a number of agreements in the fields of investment, energy, industry, trade, technology, education, culture and infrastructure.

The Prime Minister is proceeding to expand Iraq’s strategic partnerships and translate its international relations into effective interests, opportunities, and partnerships that enhance the economy and development, during his second scheduled stop in Berlin.
