First private space station unveiled for luxury off-Earth experienceShafaq News/ Reports revealed, on Tuesday, Haven-1, the world’s first private space station, which is scheduled to be launched next year.

The Haven-1 space station is more modern and spacious than the International Space Station, with large beds, a state-of-the-art gym and maple interiors, according to the American space company Vast, which collaborated with world-famous designer Peter Russell Clark to design it.

“Astronauts living in zero gravity pose unique design challenges,” said Clark, who previously worked with Apple. “Creating a highly efficient and naturally comfortable environment leads to entirely new outcomes. Haven-1’s interiors are unprecedented, carefully and sensitively designed to ensure its occupants thrive in space.”

From the outside, Haven-1 looks like any other spacecraft, however, the interior is warmer than the International Space Station.

Vast explained that Haven-1’s interior surfaces are soft and padded to provide an extra element of safety for the crew and visitors as they fly around. There are four private crew quarters above and below the main corridor, providing astronauts with a place to rest.

The space company said these expanded personal rooms, which are slightly larger than the crew quarters aboard the International Space Station, are uniquely designed to allow for changing, entertainment, online communication with loved ones on Earth (thanks to SpaceX’s Starlink connection) and, most importantly, a good night’s sleep.

With no gravity to keep you horizontal, sleeping in space has been a challenge for astronauts in the past. However, Vast hopes to address that problem with a patent-pending sleep system.

“This system is approximately the size of a queen-size bed, provides a customized amount of even pressure throughout the night, and accommodates both side and back sleepers,” the company explained.

The main common area has an area of 24 cubic metres and will serve as a multi-functional centre where the crew can eat, exercise, conduct laboratory experiments and relax.

It is worth noting that veteran NASA astronaut Andrew Feustel, who has logged more than 225 days in space aboard the International Space Station, provided important advice to Vast on the subject of the space station.

“From communications and interaction, to private space and connecting with others on the station, to advancing human progress on Earth and beyond, every detail is designed with the astronaut experience at the core of our work,” Feustel said.

While the cost of building Haven-1 has not been disclosed, Vast says it will invest about $1 billion by the time the station launches.
