Federal Oil Minister - We discussed with the delegation of the region joint mechanisms for managing the oil and gas industry in KurdistanShafaq News/ Minister of Oil Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar announced on Monday that he had discussed with the delegation of the region joint mechanisms for managing the oil and gas industry in the region, while the Minister of Kurdistan Region for Negotiations demanded the legislation of the oil and gas law to address the outstanding problems.

Abdul-Jabbar said in a press conference followed by Shafak News Agency; “The joint mechanisms for managing the oil and gas industry in the region were discussed with the delegation of the Kurdistan Region, in a manner that protects the interests of the parties and leads to the development of this industry and its establishment in its right position and the maximization of the federal state’s revenues, all of which would protect the rights of the parties and achieve the general balance of the state.”

He added, “The goal of the Ministry of Oil is clear in the various companies and activities, which is to maximize state revenues and interests in a way that secures the state’s inevitable spending needs and in a manner that secures the salaries of all the people of the country and leads to the establishment of development rules.”

Abdul-Jabbar emphasized; “The delegation of the region came very understanding of these necessities in which the ministry operates, as the ministry’s policy is almost standard policies. We are working to develop all instructions and documents to conform to international standards and lead to raising the level of performance in all activities across the country.”

He pointed out that “these problems need discussions. What we found today is very high positivity on the part of the region and a great openness on the part of the ministry, which is melting the ice and cutting problems in this aspect, expecting to start real work as we will wait for answers from them in the coming days after returning to the higher departments.” in the region”.

For his part, the Minister of the Region for Negotiations with the Federal Government, Khaled Shwani; “Oil and gas have been among the outstanding issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region for nearly 15 years, indicating that “according to the existing developments, it is clear by the Kurdistan Region to address the matter fundamentally through the reference of the constitution and in a manner that achieves the highest benefit for the Iraqi people and that revenues are distributed fairly between the region and the provinces.

Shwani indicated that “some possible mechanisms have been put in place that constitute a future action plan to address the problem of oil in all its aspects in a radical way,” noting that “the best solution to address all problems is in the legislation of the oil and gas law.”

He stressed that “the law must be legislated in the coming period and that these principles that we discussed today and the future that will be discussed could be the nucleus of the oil and gas law.”

He pointed out that “these discussions are a good start between the federal government and the Kurdish region in resolving the oil and gas file in a manner that achieves the highest benefit for the Iraqi people in accordance with the mechanisms stipulated in the constitution.”

Today, Monday, the Ministry of Oil announced that it had received the first delegation from the Kurdistan Region to discuss the oil file.

The Federal Supreme Court had declared last February 15 that the oil and gas law of the Kurdistan Regional Government was unconstitutional and abolished, and obligating the regional government to hand over all oil production from oil fields in the Kurdistan region and other areas from which the Ministry of Natural Resources in the Kurdistan Regional Government extracted oil and handed it over to the government Federal, represented by the Federal Ministry of Oil.

An official source in the National Oil Company had announced in an interview with Shafaq News Agency that joint committees from Baghdad and Kurdistan will discuss how to implement the Federal Court’s decision.
