Informed sources confirmed on Monday that a new convoy left Harir base near Erbil towards US bases in Syria, as part of moves to evacuate military assets inside the base.
The sources explained to Al-Maalomah that “a large convoy moved since the early morning hours, including equipment and iron containers, under heavy guard from the American forces, from Harir base near Erbil towards the American bases in Syria.”
She added that “this convoy is one of several that have moved during the past weeks, as part of dismantling the military assets inside the base, which was one of the most prominent features of the American presence in Iraq throughout the past years.”
The sources indicated that “the evacuation of Harir base may take place in the coming weeks, especially since the indicators point to the dismantling and transfer of most of the military assets there towards Syria by the American forces.”
She noted that “some assets, particularly those related to logistical support, remain inside the base and are likely to be evacuated in the coming period.”
