Al-Maalomah/Anbar –
Economic expert Rashid al-Saadi revealed on Tuesday that Iran has allowed Iraqi oil to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without imposing any security or financial restrictions.
Al-Saadi told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “The Iranian government has allowed Iraq to export its oil through the Strait of Hormuz without imposing any restrictions on the ships carrying Iraqi oil destined for other countries. What has been rumored about Iran preventing Iraqi oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz is completely unfounded.”
He added, “At that time, Iraq was unable to export its oil to other countries through the Strait of Hormuz due to the high cost of maritime insurance and shipping costs, as Iraq did not own oil tankers. Furthermore, international companies were apprehensive about the risks associated with transporting Iraqi oil.” He noted that “the Kurdistan Region’s opposition to allowing oil exports was a negative stance.”
He continued, “There has been a breakthrough in the issue of exporting Iraqi oil via Ceyhan to Turkey, and it is hoped that the oil export pipeline to Jordan will be reopened.”
