Economic expert Dirgham Muhammad Ali affirmed on Wednesday that exporting crude oil via tankers has become the optimal solution and the most effective maneuver to overcome export obstacles in the current circumstances, stressing the necessity of diversifying export outlets and establishing strategic storage facilities.
Ali told the Information Agency, “Exporting oil via the Mediterranean Sea using large convoys of tankers is a sufficient alternative and one of the best solutions currently available,” explaining that “Iraq possesses a sufficient land fleet to transport oil production to alternative outlets.”
He added that “the force majeure represented by the American and Zionist aggression targeting the region has led international shipping companies to refrain from using Iraqi ports, causing a significant halt in exports and the shutdown of most southern oil fields.”
The economic expert pointed out that “the government is obligated today to reconsider its energy export strategy by diversifying routes, as well as expediting the construction of giant storage facilities to accommodate production and prevent field shutdowns during crises.”
