The alliance of Kurdish political forces opposed to the regime in Tehran strongly condemned on Thursday the drone and missile attacks carried out by Iran against its members and fighters inside the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, considering them to be an attempt to cover up what it described as the “political, military and strategic failures” facing the regime.
The coalition said in a statement seen by Shafaq News Agency that the Iranian regime has violated Iraqi sovereignty more than 700 times since the beginning of the conflict in the region and even after the ceasefire came into effect, noting that the Kurdistan Region was a primary target of those violations, which included more than 150 direct attacks on the political refugee camps of Iranian Kurdish dissidents.
He explained that those attacks resulted in the death of 21 people, including 10 activists and members of the coalition, considering the targeting of consulates, political camps and civilian areas a “violation of the Geneva Conventions and a war crime.”
The coalition called on the international community, including the United Nations and concerned countries, to take a “firm” stance regarding these attacks, while at the same time affirming its full support for the stability of the Kurdistan Region.
