Diyala Council announces roadmap to revive more than 500 factories and plants

The Diyala Provincial Council revealed on Tuesday that it has submitted a roadmap to revive more than 500 factories and plants within the province, which could create at least 20,000 jobs in a short period.
Council Chairman Omar al-Karawi explained to Al-Maalomah that “Diyala has more than 500 privately owned factories and plants spread across several areas, collectively forming a vital sector that could provide at least 20,000 job opportunities in a short time if their production lines are restarted.”
He added that “these factories produce more than 100 different materials and goods, and can contribute to supplying Iraqi markets with their needs.” He further stated that “the Diyala Council has submitted a roadmap to the central government to adopt mechanisms that guarantee the revival of these production lines, either through supporting the private sector or creating a partnership with the public sector.”
Al-Karawi pointed out that “restarting and reviving production at these factories will boost national production and ensure additional job opportunities for local workers,” stressing that “Diyala is in dire need of job opportunities, especially given the high unemployment rates within the province.”
