On Saturday, the representative of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Rafiq Al-Salihi, revealed an agreement between the head of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, and the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, to announce the largest bloc that includes the forces of the coordination framework and the Sadrist movement during the next parliament session.
Al-Salihi said in a statement to / the information /, that “the meeting of the forces of the coordination framework yesterday evening valued the initiative of the leader of the Sadrist movement to make contact with the head of the State of Law coalition regarding resolving the political crisis, and what was proposed by Muqtada al-Sadr during the contact with al-Maliki was also discussed.”
He added, “After the meeting of the Coordinating Framework Forces ended, a call was made by al-Maliki to al-Sadr, where it was agreed to announce the largest bloc between the framework and the current in the next parliament session.”
Al-Salihi indicated that “the two parties agreed to hold consultations for the final agreement on naming the next prime minister, and that Jaafar al-Sadr’s chances are stronger by naming him prime minister.”
It is noteworthy that the coordinating framework forces held a meeting at the home of the head of the Al-Fateh Alliance Hadi Al-Amiri, hours after the sudden phone call between Al-Sadr and Al-Maliki.
