Disagreements over ministerial portfolios persist... 3 factors delay the formation of the cabinetInformation / Baghdad…
Jassim Mohammed Jaafar, a leader in the State of Law Coalition, suggested on Thursday that the vote on the cabinet would be postponed until after the Eid al-Adha holiday, attributing this to a number of practical and political reasons preventing it from being held in the near future.
Jaafar told the Information Agency, “There are indications that the vote will be postponed until after the Eid al-Adha holiday, the first being the lack of a quorum due to the majority of MPs leaving the country to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.”
He added, “The issue still faces political complications, as some ministerial portfolios have not yet been decided, in addition to existing disagreements regarding the mechanism for calculating points for political blocs, especially concerning the presidencies.”
He pointed to “another equally important reason, which is the issue of American dictates and attempts to interfere in the government formation, and how to find ways to overcome these pressures before proceeding with the voting process.”
