Representative of the State of Law coalition, Mansour Al-Baiji, confirmed, on Thursday, that the current year’s budget did not do justice to the central and southern governorates, and it will not be passed within the House of Representatives without making amendments to it.
Al-Baiji said, in a statement. “The 2021 budget contains many paragraphs that need to be amended by the House of Representatives, especially with regard to the entitlements of the oil-producing provinces and the provinces that suffer from a significant deterioration in the level of services and infrastructure.”
He added, “The current year’s budget is the worst budget that was sent to the House of Representatives by the government over the successive governments, because it did not do justice to any province from the center and the south and flattered the region in an unacceptable way.”
Al-Baiji stressed, “The House of Representatives will not allow courtesy to the Kurdistan Regional Government at the expense of the central and southern governorates, which suffer great deterioration at all levels.”
The deputy for the State of Law coalition stated that “the region will not be allowed to continue exporting oil and the federal government will not hand over money for one barrel of oil,” while demanding its share of the federal budget.
Al-Baiji added, “The center and south deputies will continue to fully defend the rights of the people of the governorates, and they will not accept that a scenario is repeated every year with regard to the budget law, especially the section on the region.”
