The head of the Tasmeem parliamentary bloc, MP Amer al-Fayez, confirmed on Monday that completing the cabinet and discussing several important laws carried over from the previous session are among the priorities of the upcoming legislative term. He also ruled out the possibility of appointing deputy prime ministers.
Al-Fayez told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “the recent meeting of the leaders of the Coordination Framework forces definitively resolved the issue of completing the cabinet,” indicating that “next week will see the scheduling of an extraordinary session to vote on the remaining vacant ministerial positions.”
He added that “the upcoming legislative term will witness intensive parliamentary activity to introduce and discuss several important laws carried over from the previous term, most notably the oil and gas law, in preparation for voting on them.”
Regarding the government structure, al-Fayez ruled out reaching an agreement on appointing deputy prime ministers at this stage.
It is worth noting that the House of Representatives had previously postponed a number of important strategic laws, including those related to oil and gas, the Popular Mobilization Forces, the Federal Court, the Federal Council, and other legislation that had reached advanced stages of political consensus.
