On Saturday, Abdul Samad al-Zarkoushi, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed that three names remain under consideration for the position of Prime Minister in the next government. He emphasized that the final decision will be made through an official statement issued by the Framework.
Speaking to Al-Maalouma, al-Zarkoushi said, “The postponement of the meeting scheduled for this evening in Baghdad, which was to be held by the Coordination Framework to discuss the selection of the next Prime Minister, is very likely. It may be postponed until tomorrow or a later date.” He explained that “the meeting is still scheduled for its original time, but the possibility of postponement remains.”
He added that “the number of candidates for the position of Prime Minister remains at three,” noting that “the Coordination Framework will make the final decision according to its established procedures and based on the number of votes.”
Al-Zarkoushi indicated that “the forces within the framework are in agreement on not delaying the resolution of this issue, given the shared desire to expedite the formation of the next government,” emphasizing that “the incoming government will face complex and important issues, particularly in the financial and economic spheres.”
