Abdel Samad Zarkoush, a member of the coordinating framework, confirmed on Friday that there are no opinions within the framework calling for a delay or postponement of the April 11 session to decide on the election of the President of the Republic.

Al-Zarkoushi told Al-Maalouma that “the forces of the Coordination Framework collectively support the option of holding a session of the House of Representatives on April 11, and proceeding with the election of the President of the Republic and ending the state of delay that has confused the political scene in general,” indicating that “adherence to constitutional contexts and timelines is something that cannot be disputed.”

He added that “there is no bloc within the coordination framework that has a dissenting opinion calling for delaying or postponing the April 11 session,” stressing that “the ball is now in the court of the Kurdish forces to resolve their agreement and present a figure for the position of President of the Republic.”

He indicated that “next week will witness three to four important meetings in Baghdad, aimed at reaching final understandings that will pave the way for the election of the president during the session on April 11.”
