On Sunday, Uday Abdul-Hadi, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed that the Frameworkâs forces will officially announce the nomination of Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, at their next meeting, and that the decision will be communicated directly to the rest of the political forces.
Abdul-Hadi told Al-Maalomah that “the forces of the Coordination Framework agreed in their meeting yesterday to decide on the candidate for the next Prime Minister, but the statement issued did not include this directly, because there is an important meeting that will be held next week, after which a confirmation and official statement will be issued regarding support for Maliki for this position.”
He added that “the remaining political forces will receive official confirmation from the Coordination Framework of its support for Maliki as the candidate of the largest bloc to assume the premiership of the next government,” indicating that “this will clarify the paths and finalize the Coordination Framework’s position regarding the most important position in the Iraqi state.”
