Conflict of interest - Official complaint filed with the Integrity Commission gives Al-Zidi and the Minister of Electricity the choice between resigning or relinquishing their contractsShafaq News – Baghdad
Former MP Raed Al-Maliki announced on Sunday that he had submitted an official report to the Integrity Commission/Prevention Department and the Public Prosecution Service, with notification to the Parliamentary Integrity and Legal Committees regarding the conflict of interest of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zidi and Electricity Minister Ali Saadi Wahib, due to their having ongoing contracts with the government and ministries and debts owed to them, considering that this matter “constitutes a case of conflict of interest prohibited by law.”

In his statement, Al-Maliki demanded that legal measures be taken to compel the aforementioned individuals to disclose the interests they have with the government and to remove the conflict, noting that, according to the amended Integrity and Illicit Gains Commission Law No. 30 of 2011 (Article 20/Second), they must either relinquish those interests or resign from their positions within 90 days.

Shafaq News Agency was unable to contact the media offices of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Electricity for comment on the statement.
