[Erbil-Where]
President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani demanded, on Thursday, the Iraqi federal government to compensate the Kurdistan Region for what it was deprived of of its financial dues for the year 2020.
This came during a congratulatory telegram presented by the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani on the occasion of the New Year, which stated:
“I extend my congratulations to all the Kurds, to the proud families of the martyrs, to the people of Iraq and representatives of states and allies in Kurdistan and Iraq, and to the whole world, I hope that you pass Kurdistan, Iraq and humanity. All the pain and hardships of the past year and the Covid-19 epidemic and its effects, and enjoy a year full of safety, happiness and stability, and the water of life returns to its course. The
Kurdistan region was affected in the past year, and the whole world was affected by the harsh repercussions of the outbreak of the Corona virus, and undesirable health conditions and other financial conditions were seized It is difficult and economically strangled by the Kurdistan Region, so it placed a great burden on the shoulders of citizens from all sides, as hundreds of families in Kurdistan lost their dear ones and loved ones because of the epidemic, so I offer condolences and share their grief with them.
Before the end of 2020, the actions of the main Iraqi political forces in the Iraqi parliament were very unfair towards the Kurdistan region. It was a policy brimming with hostility to the Kurdistan Region aimed at disrupting services and starving the people of Kurdistan. It has made every effort, through the Fiscal Deficit Financing Law, by all means and under the cover of the law, depriving employees and salary earners in the Kurdistan Region of their salaries and financial dues.
This behavior is contrary to the spirit of shared destiny and coexistence, and not feeling any responsibility towards a part of the Iraqi state employees. The Iraqi prime minister, the federal government, and all official institutions in the Iraqi state should not have accepted this injustice against employees, salary earners, and the people of the Kurdistan Region. The federal government of Iraq should compensate the Kurdistan Region for what it was deprived of of its financial dues for the year 2020 that were set by previous agreements, and we expect the United Nations, the international community and our partners to play their role in solving problems.
The long breath of the negotiating delegation of the Kurdistan Region, and that it stayed more than two weeks in Baghdad and cut off all the excuses that prevent the agreement, is evidence of the utmost good faith and willingness in the Kurdistan Region to solve the problems, but it is unfortunate that there is still no good and practical response from the Iraqi federal government to the least financial rights of the region Kurdistan.
This is not at all a preparation for solving problems with the Kurdistan region, but rather a punishment for the people of Kurdistan, which is neither legal nor constitutional in any way, and it is against the federal system, and comes only for political purposes and as a result of political decisions. We renew our expression of our readiness, our desire and our will to reach a final solution and agreement on the basis of the Iraqi constitution that guarantees the rights and entitlements of the people of Kurdistan and stability for all of Iraq.
On the political level in the Kurdistan region, it is regrettable that political differences between the political parties continue, and the low-level battles through social media have disturbed the living and psychological conditions of the people of Kurdistan! The multiplication of these political differences greatly weakens the political power of the Kurdistan Region and will cause the fragmentation of society to a large degree, which will destroy the social stability and security in the Kurdistan Region, and it must be stopped as soon as possible.
The duty of all Kurdish political forces is to think about preserving the rights and the constitutional and political entity of the Kurdistan region and the federal system, and to work on this together, so these political differences must be ended immediately and an agreement to solve our problems, and the presidency of the Kurdistan Region will be as it is always the appointed and supporter to achieve this and all Pictures and methods.
In addition to expressing the utmost thanks, appreciation and gratitude for the understanding, endurance and steadfastness of the citizens of Kurdistan, I extend my thanks to the heroic Peshmerga and all the security forces that protect Kurdistan, and I also thank the doctors, nurses and all the health sector cadres who stand in the front row to tackle the Corona virus.
The Kurdistan region will remain, as it always is, a factor of safety and stability in Iraq and the region. And it will strengthen its relations with neighboring countries and the world on the basis of common interests. It will continue to cooperate and coordinate with our allies and partners, whose duties and support in Iraq and the Kurdistan region still need to continue.
Together, and through uniting the ranks and position, we can overcome all difficulties and crises and defeat them, occupy a better position and position in Iraq, the region and the world, and move the wheel of development and progress in our country. We will all tread in Kurdistan with harmony, tolerance and acceptance of others, and with hope towards a bright future.
Congratulations to everyone their new year, and I wish everyone a happy and successful year. ”
