Kurdish leader and head of the Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, and Prime Minister-designate Ali Faleh al-Zaidi stressed on Saturday the need to proceed with forming a new federal government capable of facing the challenges and overcoming the crises.
This came during a meeting between Al-Zaidi and the accompanying delegation with the Kurdish leader at his residence in Salah al-Din resort in Erbil, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office.
The statement said that the meeting reviewed the overall situation in the country and the course of dialogues to form the new government, where the importance of unifying visions and positions and working to form a “strong” government capable of facing challenges and overcoming crises was emphasized, in a way that contributes to strengthening stability and development, and achieving the aspirations of all the people of Iraq.
This comes in conjunction with al-Zidi’s visit to Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, to hold talks with Kurdish leaders to proceed with the formation of the next federal government. It is expected that, after concluding his meetings with the leaders in Erbil, the prime minister-designate will head to Sulaymaniyah to meet with the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani, for the same purpose, and conclude his visit to the region.
