On Thursday, informed sources within the coordination framework revealed details of the meeting of the framework’s forces, which was held in the presence of Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi and most of the political and party leaders of the Shiite House forces .
The source confirmed to Shafaq News Agency that “the framework forces have indirectly authorized the Prime Minister to choose candidates for the controversial ministries (Defense, Interior, Higher Education and Planning), and therefore Al-Zaydi and his team will begin reviewing the candidates’ CVs and studying a group of names that do not represent a political factional front.”
According to the source, it was agreed to create a Ministry of Tourism as a kind of appeasement between (the National Approach bloc or the Services bloc) and whichever is closer to the value of the ministry in Parliament, i.e., (according to who has more parliamentary seats).
According to the source, the meeting emphasized the importance of supporting the current government’s efforts to complete its disarmament of the factions according to a specific mechanism and within a specific timeframe.
The source indicated that the meeting discussed in detail the visit of US envoy Tom Barak to Baghdad, the proposals he presented, and the positive aspects of the economic and investment partnership, which would ensure the resolution of the difficult crises in the electricity sector and others. Consequently, a high-level committee will be formed, comprising ministers and some experts, to study the proposed partnerships and investment projects that Barak brought, in order to prepare a guarantees document for the benefit of Iraq, ensuring that it obtains gains that will end its financial, environmental, and energy crises.
The framework meeting also discussed American visions regarding equipping Iraq with a security arsenal that includes radars to secure Iraq’s airspace, as well as advanced weapons and equipment, not to mention other details in this regard. Therefore, if acceptance is achieved by all forces, then al-Zaidi’s visit to Washington is a very important visit.
