On Saturday, Muhammad al-Fahdawi, a member of the Azm Alliance, called on the House of Representatives to exercise its oversight and political role by pressuring political forces to resolve the issue of the presidency and the formation of the new government, warning of the dangers of multiple fronts if the deadlock continues.
Al-Fahdawi told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the current stage is the most difficult and complex, and is accompanied by imminent security, political and economic risks, which requires a fully empowered government capable of confronting these challenges.”
He added, “Parliament is the only authority that combines the two qualities of representing the people and legislating laws, and this responsibility morally and constitutionally obliges it to push towards ending the government formation process as quickly as possible.”
Member of Parliament Mukhtar al-Youssef confirmed in a statement to Al-Maalomah News Agency today, Saturday, that the current stage requires intense political pressure to expedite the formation of a new, fully empowered government, as the current caretaker government is no longer capable of confronting the magnitude of the challenges and threats surrounding Iraq and the countries of the region.
