Araghchi: My visit to Baghdad comes under special circumstances

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed on Sunday that his visit to Iraq was his first since the end of the war, noting that it aimed to thank the Iraqi government and people for their stances. He also revealed anticipated coordination regarding the funeral of Ali Khamenei at the holy shrines in Iraq, and informing Baghdad of the developments in the talks with Washington.
Araqchi said during a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein, held in Baghdad, that “this is my first visit since the war, and its primary purpose is to express my gratitude to the Iraqi government and its people.”
He added that “Iran will continue to cooperate with Iraq in various fields,” noting that “coordination regarding the mechanism for the funeral procession of (the martyred Sayyid Ali Khamenei) in the holy shrines in Iraq is being coordinated.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister explained that he briefed Fuad Hussein on “the developments in the talks with Washington, and the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, which is under Iranian administration,” noting that he also discussed with Hussein “the security structure of the region,” within the framework of bilateral consultations between the two countries.
