Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed on Thursday that the negotiation process with the United States is still ongoing, and messages are being exchanged through intermediaries.
Araghchi continued in a press statement, saying: “We presented the seven-day plan and listened to the American side’s viewpoint on it,” indicating that “we are currently studying the American viewpoint and will provide our response within the next few days.”
US President Donald Trump had confirmed earlier on Thursday that his special envoy Steve Wittkopf was working to reach an agreement with Iran and was making “very good progress,” while the US administration was simultaneously exploring options for resuming large-scale military operations against Tehran in the coming weeks.
Trump added that the Iranians are “prepared to offer us anything to stop what is happening,” noting that reaching an agreement with Tehran “is not the option I really want,” in reference to the continuation of American pressure on Iran in conjunction with the negotiating track.
