Kurdish MP Ghalib Muhammad revealed Thursday, that he possesses hundreds of corruption files which he said relate to officials in the Kurdistan Region, calling on the Federal Integrity Commission to open a comprehensive investigation into these files and form a specialized investigation committee to follow up on them, stressing that many of them are related to the squandering of public funds.
Mohammed told Al-Maalomah that “the Federal Integrity Commission is required to perform its oversight role within the Kurdistan Region, questioning the reasons for the absence of its procedures in following up on corruption cases there, despite the existence of suspicions related to a number of vital sectors.”
He added that “the corruption files in his possession include suspicions related to the management of border crossings, the region’s oil file, as well as the gas sector and companies operating in Kurdistan, noting that these files contain information related to the waste of public funds and require an official investigation.”
Mohammed pointed out that “the current reality is witnessing a clear absence of procedures for summoning or legally prosecuting those accused of corruption cases in the region, which calls for direct intervention from the Federal Integrity Commission to open those files and hold those involved accountable according to the law.
The Kurdish MP confirmed that he had submitted a comprehensive file containing allegations of corruption and squandering of public funds, calling for the formation of a specialized investigative committee to examine all the facts and take the necessary legal measures to ensure the truth is revealed and the principle of holding corrupt individuals accountable without exception is upheld.
