Ali Alawi, a member of the State of Law Coalition, stressed the necessity of using diplomatic methods and understanding to resolve the issue of the premiership without any escalation or resorting to violence.
Alawi told Al-Maalouma that “US President Donald Trump’s tweet regarding Nouri al-Maliki, the Coordination Framework’s candidate for prime minister, has made the Kurds fearful that Washington might cast doubt on them.”
He added that “all parties are engaging in the political process without any escalation and are working towards resolving disputes through diplomatic and peaceful means, without resorting to escalating positions or using the language of violence and military methods.”
He explained that “the Kurds are good at negotiating with the American side on many issues, and there is a trend and movement to ensure the preservation of Iraq’s sovereignty through the use of dialogue and understanding, without any escalation between Baghdad and Washington.”
