Prime Minister Ali al-Zidi proposed setting next Thursday, October 15, 2026, as the date for holding a session of the House of Representatives to vote on the candidates for deputy prime ministers and the vacant and newly created ministries.

This came in an official document issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, based on the provisions of Article (76/Fourth) of the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq of 2005, for the purpose of completing the government formation.

According to the document, Al-Zaydi explained that the deputy prime ministers would be without salaries, financial allocations, or new appointments for their offices.

In this context, a parliamentary source told Shafaq News Agency that Al-Zidi sent a letter proposing to set a date for voting on his deputies and completing the cabinet, without attaching the names of candidates for the vacant and newly created ministerial portfolios.

The source added that the Prime Minister has not yet sent the names of his four deputies to the House of Representatives.
