Shafaq News – Baghdad
A high-ranking source in the Iraqi government refuted on Friday the news and information circulating about Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi threatening to resign from his position due to the pressures he faces in several files, including combating the rampant financial and administrative corruption in state departments and institutions.
The source told Shafaq News Agency that none of the news and reports circulating in this regard are true, noting that everything published about it is completely false, and its purpose is to confuse matters and weaken al-Zaydi’s position in the face of a series of obstacles, some of which are real and others fabricated by brokers and thieves.
This decisive government denial comes in response to what some media outlets have reported; Al-Araby TV had broadcast a breaking news report quoting a source in the “coordination framework” claiming that the Prime Minister threatened to resign due to a lack of response to him regarding many issues, which the government source denied completely.
