Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed on Monday that Iraqis will declare the completion of their sovereignty over all Iraqi territory on September 30, while emphasizing the commitment to civil peace, social cohesion, and the application of the law, and that Iraq “will not be a station for harming others.”
Al-Zaydi said, during a speech he delivered at a celebration organized by the Sunni Endowment Office in Baghdad on the occasion of the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, that the government is proceeding with building a “free and fully sovereign” Iraq, in which the reasons for respect, dignity and security are available, stressing that protecting the country and preserving its wealth and the future of its generations is a responsibility in which all its sons cooperate.
He added that the government’s program includes “a clear approach to building, reforming, fighting corruption and promoting a productive work environment,” noting the commitment to building security institutions that operate within the framework of the constitution.
Al-Zaydi stressed the need to adhere to the requirements of civil peace, social cohesion, and the application of the law, emphasizing that Iraq “will not be a station for harming others.”
The Prime Minister praised the recommendations of the Supreme Religious Authority and all religious institutions regarding preserving the security of Iraq and its people.
He pointed out that the region is experiencing continuous tensions that have contributed to divisions in the approaches and visions governing the countries of the Islamic system, stressing the need to adhere to the approach of the Holy Prophet to achieve unity in positions and decisions that serve the goals and interests of the peoples.
