Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi stressed to the members of the ministerial team on Thursday the need to expedite the disclosure of their financial assets within a period not exceeding one week from the date of assuming responsibility.
This came during his submission of a financial disclosure statement to the head of the Integrity Commission, according to a statement issued by his media office, which confirmed that this procedure comes within the framework of enshrining the principle of transparency.
The statement added that Al-Zidi “was the first to comply with the obligations set by the Integrity and Illicit Gains Commission Law No. (30 of 2011 amended), within his ministerial cabinet, and pledged to remove all conflicts set by the law within the time limits and legal deadlines in force that regulate conflict of interest and holding public office.”
On another front, Al-Zaidi visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Electricity in Baghdad, where he chaired a meeting of the ministry’s senior staff to follow up on the ministry’s projects and review its plans to ensure the stability of the national grid during the peak months of this summer.
During the meeting, he pointed out the great importance of the energy file, as it is a key focus in the government’s plans to develop the electricity sector, stressing his keenness and follow-up on the ministry’s procedures in developing the infrastructure in the production, transmission and distribution sectors.
The Prime Minister directed the staff of the Ministry of Electricity to mobilize work and efforts in all departments and divisions of the ministry, to increase supply hours, reduce power outages and alleviate loads, stressing the government’s commitment to supporting the ministry in order to perform its duties according to the plans drawn up to find a radical solution to the electricity crisis, and for Iraq to be like the countries of the world and leave the issue of power outages in the future.
