On Thursday, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi directed that investment projects be implemented in phases to expedite completion, during his visit to the National Investment Commission headquarters to review the commission’s plans, projects, and mechanisms for implementing investment projects in various development sectors and across all governorates.

According to a statement from Al-Zaydi’s office received by Shafaq News Agency, he listened to a presentation on the reality of investment work, the most prominent opportunities and projects offered, and mechanisms to accelerate their implementation procedures, in line with the priorities of the government program and the goals of economic development.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the government is proud to have an Iraqi institution like the National Investment Commission, as it represents the state’s address in the field of investment, noting that Iraq is open to investments and seeks to build long-term partnerships with investors.

He pointed out that Iraq has great investment opportunities in various sectors, and the need to invest time and accelerate the procedures for turning these opportunities into real projects that benefit the economy and society.

He stressed the need to give special attention to the “Development Road Project,” particularly through the establishment of associated industrial cities, thereby creating an integrated economic environment.

Al-Zaydi also stressed the importance of developing rural areas and the agricultural sector by providing agricultural lands for investment to agricultural engineers and veterinarians, which would contribute to stimulating agricultural and animal production and providing job opportunities.

He stressed the importance of the Authority’s contribution to the million residential plots project, which supports the government’s efforts to address the housing issue and provide land for citizens.

For his part, the head of the National Investment Authority affirmed that investment projects are proceeding in harmony with the priorities of the government program and that the Authority is working to transform available investment opportunities into tangible development projects and realities.
