Information/Baghdad…
On Saturday, Abdul Samad al-Zarkoushi, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed that important understandings had been reached in recent hours, which could lead to the success of the Framework’s meeting scheduled for this evening in Baghdad to determine the candidate for the next prime minister.
Al-Zarkoushi told Al-Maalouma that “the past few hours witnessed a series of meetings and discussions between several forces within the Coordination Framework, resulting in important understandings that could lead to the success of the meeting scheduled for this evening for the Framework’s leadership, as the largest bloc, in order to determine the candidate for prime minister.”
He added that “the number of candidates so far ranges between three and four names, but the coming hours may see these names narrowed down and an agreement reached on a single candidate.” He explained that “it is not yet possible to confirm a complete agreement, but indications suggest that the coming hours will be decisive.”
He pointed out that “postponing the meeting again remains a possibility, but the information available to us suggests that today’s meeting will be decisive regarding the candidate.”
