Member of Parliament, Mukhtar al-Youssef, affirmed on Saturday that the issue of completing the cabinet is a purely internal matter and is not subject to any external influences, explaining that the final decision is solely linked to the electoral entitlement and national consensus among the political blocs.
Al-Youssef told the Information Agency that “the agenda for the Prime Minister’s visit to Washington was discussed extensively within the coordination framework meeting before its commencement,” noting that “the visit focused primarily on joint economic, investment, and development files, without allowing for discussion of political files pertaining to internal Iraqi affairs.”
He added that “the issue of filling the remaining ministerial posts is a purely local matter,” pointing out that “the days following al-Zidi’s return from Washington will witness the resumption of dialogues to complete the remaining vacant ministerial portfolios in accordance with the established parliamentary entitlements.”
