Former MP Kazem Al-Touki confirmed on Monday that some disagreements within the coordination framework are still an influential factor in delaying the resolution of the issue of naming the Prime Minister, and the issue has not been resolved yet.
Al-Touki told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “among these disagreements is the current Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani’s insistence on his right to continue, based on what he sees as a political entitlement related to the bloc he represents.”
He added that “in contrast, the State of Law coalition, led by Nouri al-Maliki, believes that the issue of the premiership should be decided according to understandings and agreements within the coordination framework and not by relying on a single criterion.”
He believes that “what is being circulated in the media about a concession or a final agreement is not based on an official announcement, and the circulating news falls within the realm of media analysis and speculation,” stressing that any “real agreement will be announced clearly and officially.”
